There are a few reasons I chose to buy an Ecosa mattress:
- Free delivery. If you live in Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney they also claim it will be delivered within 4 hours.
- 100 night trial. If you don’t like the mattress you can return it for a full refund.
- Cheaper than Koala. I bought the queen size mattress, it was $100 cheaper than Koala’s mattress, even after asking Koala for a discount.
- Comes with a removable, washable mattress cover

These are the claims that Ecosa make, but how well do they do in reality…
Ecosa Mattress Delivery
I ordered a mattress from Ecosa at 10:47 on a Wednesday morning. Received a confirmation email asking me to contact them if my address was incorrect.
Waited….
I checked their contact details to find out which number to call if I’m still waiting after 4 hours.
There is NO contact number. Slightly concerning, but they do have live chat on their website. I asked a couple of questions earlier and they answered pretty much straight away.
2:47 pm. No mattress. Asked if there was an Ecosa number I could call.
Called Ecosa and was told that the courier company was running behind schedule and they could not give me an ETA besides that it would be before 6:00pm.
As far as the 4 hour delivery goes, from me they get a big fat FAIL.
It was delivered at 4:00pm, it was a same day delivery, which ordinarily I would be more than happy with. When one of your key marketing promises is 4 hour delivery anything outside of that time-frame is a failure.
Unboxing the Ecosa mattress
The whole process of opening the box and getting all the plastic off took less than 7 minutes. Fairly easy to setup as you can see below in what is possibly the world’s worst unboxing video.
I’ve read reviews that stated it had a chemical smell. I didn’t notice it to be that strong, but there is a slight smell there. A few hours after opening it the smell was stronger. However, it’s not really an unpleasant smell. Other reviews have stated the smell goes away after a couple of days.
First night sleeping on the Ecosa mattress
The foam smell got worse, I had to open some windows to let the smell out. By the next day the smell had mostly gone. As for the comfort of the mattress, it’s an extremely firm mattress. Probably the firmest mattress I’ve ever slept on. I liked the firmness of the Ecosa mattress, but if you’re someone who enjoys sleeping on something softer, you’re going to need a mattress topper.
Once I got to sleep I slept quite well and found it quite comfortable.
Thoughts on the Ecosa mattress after a month
